Good Life Journal - Hebrews 6
Hebrews 6:11-12 – Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.
Love of others is at the very core of the Christian faith. We are to love others not to a point and cease, but as long as we are living. When we are living a life loving others, we are focused and don’t just go through the motions of being a Christian. This commitment to love others requires faith and perseverance but our hope will be inheriting God’s promises.
Love is the Gospel as God loved everyone so much that he sent his son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. 1 John 4:19 says this, “We love because he first loved us.” If we are loving people, sharing our life with and for others we are truly living out our faith. We can never love too much. It is very difficult to become indifferent or spiritually dull if you are engaged in loving/serving relationship(s). A genuine relationship with God requires love of God and others that may be different than ourselves. I must always be on guard to be spirit led and act out of love when serving, sharing with others. While it is important to have knowledge, knowledge without love is empty. When we study the word, do it so we can encourage and present the truth in love.
Thank you so much for the loved you showed us through your Son. Let me never lose sight of your love and may your Spirit guide me to never get tired of loving others.
