BAPTISM FAQ

WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
Baptism is an outward symbol of God's saving work within the life of a Christ-follower. Baptism does not save us, but baptism is the means Jesus gave for His people to identify with Him and go public with their faith. (Matthew 28:19)
You should be baptized if you have surrendered your life to Jesus, trusting Him alone for salvation, and if you have not already been baptized as a believer by immersion.

DOES BAPTISM SAVE ME?
No. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Baptism is an outward expression of the inward change that God has accomplished in the life of a Christian. In fact, "The only thing we contribute to our salvation is the sin that made it necessary." (Jonathan Edwards)

DOES GOOD LIFE CHURCH BAPTIZE INFANTS?
No. Good Life believes the command to be baptized is reserved to those individuals who have surrendered their life to Jesus as Lord and Savior. Infants have not and cannot make this conscious decision.
We do invite Christian parents to dedicate their children to the Lord. This commitment is made during one of our services, and it symbolizes the parents’ and the church’s commitment to raising the child in a God-honoring environment.

WHY DOES GOOD LIFE CHURCH BAPTIZE BY IMMERSION?
The word for “baptize” used in the New Testament in the original Greek literally means to “dip under water”. Scripture reveals that members of the Early Church were baptized by immersion, and we believe this is the best practice for baptism at Good Life.

IF I HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED AS A BELIEVER, BUT NOT BY IMMERSION, IS MY BAPTISM DISCOUNTED?
No. While baptisms at Good Life will be by immersion, we recognize that varying denominations & traditions may use different means to be obedient to Christ's command for believers to be baptized. Our primary concern is that members of the Good Life Church Family are baptized with water since being saved.
